Terminals are good. Ive bypassed the positive terminal as well just to see if it was coroded wire at fault. voltmeter says 12v to starter but maybe its not enough cranking amps. I'm going to take my battery and my starter in today to get tested.

If this starter tests bad, I would have them test the next starter before you take it home.

well i went to work and talked to a couple guys in the shop. They said that a lot of the reman starters get stuck and to tap the back of the starter and not the side so i don't damage the magnets and to add a few more grounds just to be safe. So i added a ground at one of the bolts in between the starter and the bell housing. tapped on the back of the starter and voila. The motor turns over every time i ask it too.

I wouldn't trust that starter for the long haul. Sounds like a crappy rebuild job.

Who ever you talked to gave you some great advice. Specially about the extra ground. Did that along time ago. It didn't matter how clean or new my cables were, for awhile there and off and on - it just wouldn't crank. I had EVERY connection clean, - every ground. Still, once in awhile, -click! WTH ?

Another ground ended all that. A 5400 strand,- tinned copper ground 1/0.
