Well, if I were to find one, my wife would make me put her back where I found her!

Urgh!

I have to drive across the state this weekend for my daughter's medical appointment. Coolant was already checked both cold and hot and was fine. Still read the code. According to the drivers manual if the problem is fixed then after 3 cold starts the check engine light will be removed. Here in WA State it is illegal to reset your codes, so I am buying a, what I call, a boobydoop. The thing that plugs in under the dash to read and clear codes. It will be the best 280.00 I have spent since Auto Zone has officially frustrated me with not letting me use the device myself. For the record I know how to use it and even clear my own codes. But here in WA they have made that illegal. So not Im stuck trying to do this again. The new thermostat is in, and the alternator is coming off. I have searched the web for adequate pics and videos, only to be left even more frustrated because they are not of my truck! Working on the CHT sensor now. I appreciate everyone trying to give me the best advice they can. Please feel free to continue.

280 is a lot of jack to cough up for a code reader. I paid less then 30 bucks for mine. You can also reset the codes absolutly leagally by simply disconnecting the battery for a few minutes.

I just changed the CHT sensor, and it can be done easily by removing the alternator, and what I did was use an old 3/4" box end wrench, and I broke it off, so the box end only had about 3"-4" of handle, which allowed me to twist out the sensor with ease. You can cut the wrench off with a hacksaw, but in my case, I was attempting to just bend the wrench, and it was having none of that.

Haa, just seen some one do that for the first time at another site. I heard you could in the past, just never had to yet. - It works. Hell, I have plenty of 3/4 wrenches laying around. Just hack off the ugliest one lol.

Well I don't know what is going on now but the new CHT sensor is in and now the car is kicking when it's being driven. I don't know if a spark if wire was knocked or a hose, but now we have to figure that out. Did I mention the CHT sensor I purchased from napa turned out to be the wrong part. Lol it's a funny story. I told my napa guy I needed a CHT sensor and he gave me what looked to be a correct part. After breaking the old one, not on purpose but helpful, I quickly realized the threading was different and it was close but no cigar. So back to napa we went. Lines at napa are out the door since all week they are running a promotion since the Seahawks won the Super Bowl, everything in the stores this week is 43% off. I waited 30 mins at the first store only to have to go to a second store to get the correct part and wait 45 mins. Well point of the story lol, typical girl, the new thermostat and CHT sensor are in and the car seems to be bucking. Oh and it is 0 degrees outside right now.

Did you disconnect the battery before working on it?

Do you still have a CEL ? Not sure how it could be bucking, - unless a coil was disconnected. Are you sure the CHT is connected well ?

Well, if you haven't disconnected the battery yet,- during or after the repair, then do that for about , iduno, 1/2 hour. Just the negative cable.

Reconnect it, see what you have.

Also, - the CHT on that model has two connectors. One on each side of the harness. Make sure they're both connected.

I didn't think of that, - makes more sense.

In a plug chamber most likely.
