Truck died while driving wont even turn over

Last night on my way home I was driving down the road and my truck just quit. I tried to restart it but it wouldnt even turn over. My check light came one so I tried to run a test on it. The reader couldnt even pick up the code. I have no clue what it is. I need back up and running by tomorrow so I can get to school. Any ideas?

Do your headlights work? Are they bright?

Does the starter click? Check the battery cable connections. Turn the engine manually to make sure it's not locked up. Inspect everything under the hood carefully.

Of course the CEL will come on if the engine quits. That won't set a code.

Put a voltmeter across the battery terminals. Anything less than 12 indicates a shot battery. Have you tried to jump it?

Did you happen to drive through a large puddle of water or was it raining real hard?

The FPDM is a very common cause of a no-start, but it shouldn't prevent it from even turning over.

Right, that's why no-one said FPDM. Oh well...
