That'd be cool! But my prayers go out for you. My grandmother got leukemia after 3 cycles of breast cancer radiation. She's a tough ole sumbitch lol and has lived well beyond all the terminal dates they gave her (hers was/is pretty bad and she's over 70). The options are great now, I have confidence you'll get it all sorted!

Don't worry I always check my wear patterns before reinstalling the cover. I torque everything to spec. I've also learned that when going from a ford gear to another ford gear ratio every time the factory pinion shim is the correct one. I've probably set up 25-30 ring and pinions so I have a pretty good bearing on what works and what doesn't. I've also always used low use explorer 31 spline units and none ever had bad bearings. I've been in the 5s in the 1/8 on moser axles and an explorer 31 spline traction loc on an automatic c4 car. So they are plenty strong. It's the stick cars that tear up stuff.
I didn't attack the way you do things, just stated that there is a Correct way to do it. Sure you can reuse the bolts, who listens to all that one time use and TTY stuff

anyway I believe you can get a acceptable wear pattern from reusing the factory shims, but that is not the correct way. I have torn apart factory 8.8's that had

never had the cover off but the wear pattern was not "correct". There is a variance in spec for that reason, yeah you can get .014" backlash and be fine but I would

rather be on the .007" side for longevity. I wrenched for a living, I couldn't just through it together and get somewhere within spec. I spent time on making it what I

would want if it was my vehicle. To say the factory shim is correct everytime on the pinion is outlandish. There are variances in housings, bearings, and races that

reusing the factory shim cannot cover. Once again there is variance in specs so if you are happy with it being on the extreme this can sometimes work. This is all MY

recommendation from a "professional" standpoint. Why would you ever tear a differential apart and not take the time to replace bearings? Would you rebuild an engine

and not replace rod and main bearings? I care about preventative maintenance, not getting it done on the cheap. On your drag car you could care less about the gear

setup, you drive it for 5 seconds at a time. As long as it goes straight, doesn't explode, and runs the number its a success.

It's been a while but I just wanted to let you all know that I did get a set of hot rod cams and installed them! They sound great, but I haven't gotten it tuned all the way yet so I can't speak for the performance yet

First start up. With just a driver tune.

After being tuned and welding in exhaust cutouts. I put the cut outs in place of the obx resonators so even with them closed it is louder now.

Took me a while but i finally got them up for you guys lol

I'm thinking of changing my exhaust again but i haven't decided how i want to yet.

Sounds awesome! I'd love to put cutouts in place of the resonators as well. I think the resonators are at least partially responsible for me not being in love with the tone of mine.
