Swap: will a 2011 4.6 2valve fit in my 2005 ford f150 2 valve?
Swap: will a 2011 4.6 2valve fit in my 2005 ford f150 2 valve?
Hi there,
Smoke my engine over the weekend in my 2005 ford f150 4.6 2valve
Found a screaming deal on a 2011 4.6 2 valve with 6speed auto tranny.
Question 1. Will the engine by itself fit? I noticed the oil filter is in a different location. I planned on swapping in this motor with all my top end if the electronics differed. Just the long block with heads and my top.
Will that motor drop in?
I planned on using my stock tranny 4r75w
Will that tranny bolt up?
Almost bought it today but I want to check with you all first

Lastly, the engine comes with the stock 6 speed auto 6r80 transmisson.
If I decided to drop that entire 2012 engine and tranny in I would need a PCM and all the wiring correct? That might be over kill for me, I'm not sure yet.
Be fun to have a 6 speed auto and a new 4.6 in this old truck tho.

if you wanted that 6 speed tranny bad enough and had really deep pockets loaded with cash it could be done....
pretty sure the 4.6 was phased out by 2011 in the f150's....
you sure that the 2011 4.6 motor isn't a 3v....?
what this motor and tranny combo coming out of...?
might want to find yourself a low mileage E150 and get a 5.4 2v instead...imo

Ok, scrap the 6 speed install then.
Back to this 2011 4.6 2 valve. I do see its listed as an engine for that year truck.
I really want to make this work, I'm getting the engine and tranny for $1200 with 15k miles. Ill sell off the 6 speed and recoupe some money.
Will I run I into any issues bolting the engine up to my stock 2005 4 speed tranny?
Will my top end run this motor? Or can I just plug in play the injectors from the new motor and everything else?
I know this usually isn't common but I appreciate your thoughts.

88, guy pulled the valve cover today and its a two valve (so he says)
He's not sure what it came out of. He did send pics of the motor and a sticker on the side that has the build date.
He bought a few motors at an auto parts auction.
All I know is its a 2011 2 valve 4.6.
Looks just like my motor top down except the oil filter is behind the driver exhaust manifold instead of In front of it by the power steering pump like mine.

Glc,
Thanks for the reply. You are correct. I just found out that info myself.
It's a e150 with the 4speed trans.
So, if I strip that 4.6 down and put my oil pan, intake Ect will she bolt over or should I just go with a different motor more accurate to my year?
