Have a 2000 5.4 expedition. Cleaned the engine at was and by the time I got home the service engine light was on. Checked it and had a p0171 (amss airflow or vaccum line) P301 and P303 misfire cylinders 1 and 3. Any clue what would cause all of these issues at once? Did water get somewhere it shouldnt?
Thanks in advance..Robert

water probably got into the spark plug wells....take the cops off+out and dry out wells with compressed air....hopefully the water didn't damage the cops/plugs....
clean, check, and regrease cop boots....replace cops and/or plugs if misfires still continue....
Don't ever get water via a pressure washer/nozzle on the top side of a Ford modular motor....imo

Water and electrical/ignition don't mix very well. I never take a hose to these engines. Some due, but they take precautions.
Don't worry about the 171 for now. You need to fix those misfires tho 301 303. Once you do, the 171 will most likely go away as well.
As 88 said, try drying them out, you might get lucky. You really need compressed air to do this right.
The coils could be shorted out, no good anymore. If that's the case, head over to eBay or Amazon and look for Visteon or Motorcraft coils for sale. New and only with one those names. Part #DG508 (just one reference #)

Unfortunatly I dont have any compressed air can or compressor. This is my daily driver too so me no worker = no money. She has almost 180k and only one coil and plug change around 80-90k miles. So kinda in a rock hard place..blah
time to change them again....if you're at 180k and the last time they were done was at 80-90k
Good time to invest in a little compressor, if you can. They aren't to bad, between 100-200 bucks for a little electric pancake. That would do it and it usually comes with accessories. But you should clean/blow the plug well/chambers pronto.

If you have a shop vac they suck and blow....that's all I'm saying...lol
hair dryer may help as well once you get most of the water out.

This morning when I got up it started up just fine and ran as normal. I do think its time to replace the coils and plugs. Was thinking about a hire volt coils and maybe e3 plugs.
Visteon coils and Motorcraft plugs...........
