2001 F150 Supercab 4.6l DOHC

I have been trying to find info on the Truck/Motor Combo. But it didn't seem to be offered in this combo. I bought it for $500 and is in good shape except the motor needs to be fixed. Anyone have any info on the Motor was it offered?, if not how to tell what it is from ...

Shouldn't be hard to find, a lot of trucks came with the 4.6, the only other options were the 4.2 or the 5.4.

I wasn't meaning the 4.6l as I see 40% had that motor, I haven't seen it offered with the Dual Overhead Cam and don't see it as stock in any of the information that I have read ...

Missed that part my bad man, quick google search leads me to believe it was swapped in, from what I can't tell you.

http://www.ffcars.com/FAQ/46Lmotor.html

Might give you a general reference of what it potentially came out of.

Only dual ohc motors in 4.6L offered was in the Lincoln Mark 8 mid 93 on and the Navigators, later on.
After 04, the engines evolved with cam phasing, then 3 valves, then cam phasing both intake and exhaust valve timeing.
The OBDII operating system also changed to the CAN system.
Good luck.

^^4.6l cobra engines were also dohc, as well as the Mach 1 engines I believe. Either way, it would've taken some work to get the dohc to work in an 01 fiddy. Good luck!

The only DOHC engine ever offered in a (sort of) F-150 was the 5.4 Navigator engine in the 2002 Lincoln Blackwood.

Merged threads as only one per subject is allowed. Just gets too confusing for posters.

Ok My Bad, I was using "old school" math in counting the cams, I woke this morning to realize that Dual Overhead Cam would actually be 4 Overhead Cams instead of 2. No wonder I still like the old 289s and 302s. Sorry Guys still new to these newer motors ...

Other than the 4v engines, all Tritons (4.6, 5.4, 6.8 V-10) are SOHC - one cam per bank.
