Question Should I do aftermarket parts?

Hey guys need some opinions. I have a 99 150 w/ a 5.4. The build date is 10/24/98. I have not heard the dreaded slap. My question is should I not put on aftermarket parts i.e. headers and chip. The reson I ask is I am worried that if I put on these parts and I do get the slap the dealer will not replace the motor due to aftermarket parts. Any help and opinions is appreciated.

Akula

Well, get the superchip now. If you get the piston slap, just remove the superchip {easy} and get the new engine. Id wait about 2 months, and if you get no piston slap, then get the headers.

with a tri-ton-zillion documented cases of piston slap on the books now, i doubt ford could prove any mod could cause it, and "they" have to prove it. but anything you attach to the motor that they have to replace, might cost you some labor.

Thax guys you have put my mind at a little more ease. I think i will take the plunge will update you on my mods. Currently I am going to get JBA headers and do the exhaust behind it, and a superchip.

Thanx again, Akula

P.S. My motor has 23k on it and they are not babied miles either.

I know most people get the piston slap early on but I got piston slap at 29,000 miles.
