Oil to the top

How much oil should be coming out of the lash adjusters if any I believe they should have something. its a 5.4 v8 triton 2 valve DOHC I don't have any to one side of my motor passenger side causing a ticking noise (I think) and if so whats the root cause and how do I go about fixing it ?

Off hand...yes I would Also say that there should be some oil coming out/ being delivered to the valve and cam assembly.

yes, then there is a oil delivery issue. as far as, root cause...that is hard to say....many possiblities....might be a gasket in wrong or deteriorated blocking the ports ...or a foreign body had lodged in a port blocking or drastically restricting the flow, but where this is can be anywhere to that side of the engine

the best thing is to over haul the engine...this way the oil ports/galleys get cleaned out, through out the whole engine...so you know that oil delivery is not a issue. & being sure you get a new oil pump.

you might be able to just pull that head and get the oil delivery to return or maybe see where the restriction is.

might be the oil pump is just not up to the task? Have you taken oil pressure readings?...Not off the dash, unless you have a mechanical pressure gauge?

On the passenger side cyl head remove the cam cover. Then remove the rear cam cap. Under that you will see a small oil restrictor. They can become plugged and prevent oil flow to the lash adjusters, make sure the hole is open. Also look for any debris in the little reservoir in the same area, reinstall the cam cap using 8-12 nm.

Hey thank you for your reply I will check into this yes I have checked the pressure and its at 60 psi on a mechanical gauge so now I can check the oil galleys
