Romeo or Windsor?

I called the local ford dealer asking about a long block crate motor. The guy at the parts counter asked if it was a Romeo or winsor motor. I told him I didn't know. I asked him what the difference was. He didn't know!!! So much for a parts guy!

How do I tell if its a winsor or Romeo engine? What's the difference?

What year is your vehicle, what size is the engine, and what's the 8th character in your VIN?

A Romeo engine is W code and a Windsor is 6 code. Either will work (bolt right in) in your truck. But the cam covers, flex plate, cam timing gears, front cover, and a couple other small things are not interchangable.
