4.6L fuel rail question

I just replace the COP's and plugs on my 2003 4.6l screw and I removed the fuel rail to make room to remove everything and i have a question about re-installing the rail.

Does the fuel rail just sit on top of the injectors or do the injectors press into the rail. I am having trouble getting it back on properly

thanks

I think I got it...it seems to just sit on the injectors. Nothing leaks, so I guess i'm good!

Injectors have o-rings top & bottom, sometimes the o-ring will stick inside the fuel rail when you remove it from the injector, making it difficult to put back on. O-rings are sold by autoparts store in a pack with 1 top & 1 bottom ring per pack. Check injectors with a NOID tester loaned from an autoparts store. If the FORD adapter doesn't fit use the Bosch adapter.

I think that I am missing the o-rings, now that I think about it. Not sure if they are stuck in the rail or if they cam off when I pulled the rail off. Going to take a look at this tonight. I bought some new o-rings so this

If you were missing the o-rings, you would be leaking fuel. If they came off in the fuel rail, more than likely they pushed back on when you were reinstalling.

Lube the new o-rings with a LIGHT coating of vaseline or grease before instering them into the engine. When you put the fuel rail back in place, you'll feel it pop into place over the o-rings. I find it's easiest to line all four up, seat the front side and finger-tight the bolt into the bracket, then repeat on the back.
