well from one side to the other. now my truck has a PO171 bank 1 system too lean and a PO174 Bank 2 system too lean codes. at idle in gear every now and then it will stumble from 800-2,000 RPM it runs just fine anything over 2,000 it sounds like its going to blow up.

im wondering if the fuel filter might be clogged? i havnt changed it in a while and i almost never have more than 1/4 tank of fuel because my gas tank leaks so im wondering if i just got a bunch of crap in it.

Any thoughts?

Change the fuel filter and look for vacuum leaks - especially the PCV elbow.

i have no PCV any more i have a filter on the passenger side valve cover and a draft tube on the driver side valve cover.

i will change the fuel filter and get a can of carb clean and spray around the intake and TB to see if it does anything.

when i have the fuel filter off i plan on turning the key on and seeing how much fuel the pump pumps into my drain pan.

could my o2's be screwed up after running so rich? it was to the point i could see fuel coming out of both pipes. just a thought.

With that much fuel coming through it, I would almost be afraid of hydrolocking it.Diaphram burst in the fuel pressure regulator?

no the MAF wires were broken and touching each other and the metal on the intake brackets and telling my truck to dump fuel. i have scene repaired the wires and now it runs lean to the point it throws the CEL

just did an oil change and it runs 100 times better i dont understand why just an oil change would make it run better but i let it warm up ato 160* then drove it around the block getting up and over 3,000 RPM with no prob a few misses on the way up but ran all the way to 4,500RPM with no probs then sat in gear at idle with no misses. why would an oil change have this effect??

Well - if you have deleted the EGR and PCV (and God only knows what else), there's no telling what's pissing the computer off.

still running alot better but over 2,500 RPM has a stumble from time to time and at idle it stumbles a time or 2. put some fuel injection cleaner in it along with 10 gallons of fuel. i think i may have to do plugs been a while since ive done um and im sure running rich for a long time then running lean for a while has taken their toll on them.

Do you have a chip? If so pull the chip and clean it a little. They can wiggle loose or get crap on them. Also have you tried using a water spray bottle and misting the plug wires in the dark to make sure its not one of them?

no chip here just a tuner plug in reflash the PCM and unplug.

i have not tryed spraying the plug wires but if it is running lean that means no enough fuel thoe right? to rich and i would be leaning towards plugs.

put in a bottle of techron injection cleaner and threw in 5 gallons was running eh on the way to work on the way home it was hitting on all 8 at all RPM maybe i had some crap in an injector or somthing seems to be running ok for the moment.

Maybe it's time to replace that leaky gas tank?

yeah im going to take it to ford they sent me a recall notice about the straps rotting out and said if its bad enough they will replace the whole tank.

if they do ill just buy a fuel pump better safe than sorry and have them throw it in while the tank is out and if they want to charge me extra i will tell them to set the new tank on the tail gate so i can look at it for 5 mins
