Leaky/loose oil pan?

I have a 2005 f150 Fx4 with the 5.4 triton and I recently looked underneath and noticed oil running down the front of my tranny and when I looked at the oil pan there was oil running down the back of it and all the bolts on the back of the pan had oil droplets on them.
I had just recently had ford install a new tranny and was wandering if they might not have installed a gasket correctly or if i might have blown the gasket that seals the pan.

In order to fix this should I start by checking to make sure the bolts holding the pan in are tight or should i drop it and check the gasket first?.....

Could be the pan bolts loose, could be the rear main seal also.

You dont remove the oil pan to do a tranny, my guess is they did a rear main seal at the time the trans was removed as they should but possibly it didnt seal correctly.

Id take it back and try to get them to do the tranny R&R. The seal should have been replaced. Takes 5 minutes to replace that seal with the trans removed. Look at your bill and see if the charged for it. If they didnt they SHOULD have. Replacing that seal everytime the trans is out is a no brainer.

Is it engine oil or trans fluid? Clean the oil off by spraying some brand of cleaner on it. Then drive it (unless the oil is running out) and check for the oil leak again. It could be residual oil from performing the job or if they spilled trans oil while filling the transmission and drip for a few days. Also make sure the oil isn't running from the trans fill tube where it enters the transmission. I have seen these tubes damaged with a trans R/R and the oil will leak out of the tube base and drip. Identify the oil first.

It's definitely oil and it seems to have stopped leaking for now but I looked for my service bill and of course all of them are in my glove box but the most recent one pertaining to my tranny repair.

**I also went to pass someone in WOT got a flashing check engine light and and threw a code which said miss fire on cylinder 2. after letting off and costing the CEL stopped flashing and the code cleared. I'm thinking this good be a possible coil pack issue or spark plugs, since they are original from the factory, or does anyone think it could be a possible compression or gasket issue on that cylinder causing oil to leak?

Low grade misfire. Most likely a coil. You do have an 05 so don't rule out injectors either. But coils are a good place to start. You said it yourself the ignition is original. If it has some miles on it, then they should be changed as maintenance anyways.

The coils are definitely on the to do list for the summer and possibly the injectors as well. I'm dreading doing the spark plugs though may wait till next summer unless the misfire gets worse.

As for the oil it seems to be alright now but a friend said it could be the overflow pipe if someone put too much oil in, would u know where the oil overflow comes out or if that's also a possibility

Don't know of any oil overflow pipe on these engines.
