Water in oil

Checked my oil today to discover that the oil on the dipstick was milky. I checked the coolant resoiver and it looks good and has never dropped. I was doing some research and have found out that 5.4's are known for condensation issue under the oil cap if the truck is driven for short trips,
which mine is. Could it be possible that the condensation got so bad that it is in the oil pan? Also a few weeks ago when my wife left for work I noticed a couple of oil stains on the driveway where the truck is parked. I done some looking when she got home and there is an oil leak at the rear of the motor where the transmission bolts to. I think this my be the oil pan gasket. Could it be possible that water could get in there?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Jeff

The milky oil on the dipstick or fill cap is common in cooler climates and short drive cycles in most engines. Remove the drain plug after the truck has sat overnight and see if water/coolant comes out right away. If the oil in the pan is ok (not milky) and the oil level has not increased then its more than likely just condensation. I have had it on several of my cars as my wife only drives 3 miles to work so the moisture doesn't get burned off. Not sure whats going on with the oil leak maybe a rear main or the rear of the passenger cyl head? Keep an eye on the coolant level and for any white smoke from the tailpipe. If its condensation then its normal.

Into the pan from an exterior source because of a pan gasket leak? Anything in this world is possible, but HIGHLY unlikely.

I am going to change the oil and just keep a real close eye on things.

Take it out and run it hard once a week in cold weather.
