Throttle Body elbow replacement - part numbers needed

97 F150, V8 4.6L (R)

So I was removing the throttle body to clean out some clogged ports (215k miles) and the two bolts that hold the EGR valve onto the TB ELBOW broke off. I can't seem to locate those bolts to replace anywhere..thoughts, part numbers ? The # stamped on the part is F65E9A689-AF but it doesn't appear to be useful on fordparts.com.

Other problem is I may not be able to get the broke stubs out of the TB and perhaps will need to replace the elbow portion of the TB. I can't see the part numbers on mine.

I found part YL3Z9A589AB for a 98 5.4 that at least in pictures looks like mine..but who knows.

Assuming I can get the stubs out all i will need is the bolts, but quite frankly I'm not sure at this point and just buying a replacement one might be easier than working the stubs.

Anyway, anyone got any ideas on proper part numbers ?

Not yet...I'm going to go pick up some left hand drill bits and try to get the bolts out. If that works (I'm not hopefull) all I need are the bolts. With that said I think the throttle body elbow is part # XL3Z9A589BA at rockauto for $300.

Going to stop by the dealer for the bolt options.

Going to call some junkyards this afternoon if either of these options fail.

It's odd the 5.4 V8 throttle body elbow is just under $100 but from pics I can't see a difference.

I do know there is a difference between the 4.6 and 5.4 spacers, it's related to the EGR passages, if not more.

Start soaking the broken bolts with Seafoam Deep Creep.

I ended up ordering a 4.6L throttle body & elbow off ebay from a 99 expedition (XL3Z9A589BA ) for $50. Parts were the same, got it in..drilled out all of EGR ports with a gun cleaner. Had the dealer order me two new EGR bolts for $20 total and put the whole unit back on. This time with anti-seize where I could.

Sounds like this model of engine needs taken off about every 100K and cleaned out. I was idling @900 prior to this..now it idles around 700.

I am just floored at how dirty and clogged up these units get, and there is nothing you can do to get them clean other then remove them for cleaning.

By the way, the dealer wanted $625 for the part(laughed and said..yeah go to a junkyard), rock auto had one new for $300.

Yea, the 4six plenums are the worst for that as they totally plug the EGR ports. The throttle body itself collects junk that chunks up and eventually causes problems. The best thing you can do is get rid of the special coating Ford uses in the TB's. That was someones VERY bad idea.
