Spark plug / COP parts ?

I am getting ready to do my spark plugs and I want to make sure I am getting the recommend plugs.

1. I will use motorcraft as everyone says here. I believe the part number is SP479; is that correct?

2. Also, my truck has about 143k on it. Is it recommended to change the coils as well while I am in there? If so, what brand/part number is recommended?

3. Lastly, what do people torque (ft/lbs / in/lbs) the COPs to when reinstalling?

Thanks in advance!

Chris

Affirmative sp479 assuming you have a 5.4L? Visteon coils should work fine or of course Motorcraft. 28 ft/lbs no anti sieze on the plugs. Just snug the coils they don't really need to be torqued way down.

Do not overtorque the cop bolts, there is supposed to be some slop in the bushings. I'd say you wouldn't even need a wrench on them, a nut driver should be more than good enough.

I wouldn't necessarily replace the cops yet, but you may want to replace the boots. Make sure you use dielectric grease.

Rock Auto has boot/spring kits, and if you do wind up needing cops, search Ebay for Visteon DG508.

The very best you can do as far as coils and plugs IMO:

Denso Iridium spark plugs

Motorcraft/Visteon coils

Granitelli Solid connectors. No springs.
