I'm sure putting a supercharger on the 6.0L would make a big difference. I was just comparing them with stock equipment. I thought G.M. could have done much better especially considering it has 395 horsepower (if you can believe that).

Cool

HI!... In the DECEMBER issue of TRUCKIN' magazine they show a "99" SILVERADO SPORTSIDE from a company called ASM that you can order through your CHEVY dealer. It has 400 rear wheel h.p and only goes 14.89 at 97.4mph. Something sounds a little fishy there. With the mph alone the truck should be running somewhere in the extremely low 14's to high 13's. Geeze CABLEGUY's truck would give this truck a good run for it's money! Just proves again, you can have all the h.p in the world, but if you can't get it to the ground what good is it. Just my opinion.

4DTHNDR's link shows the chevy offering to have 395hp, 4100lb truck, doing a 14.08@96.75

the popular mechanics test shows a stock 360hp, 4700lb lightning, doing 13.6@101

600lbs heavier and 35hp less!
Neal hit this one on the head, major traction problems. adding more power is not what this truck needs,it needs to be re-engineered to take advantage of the power it has. the ss has the power/weight ratio of a corvette and the numbers show that they do not have their act together.

did not mean to claim exact power to weight ratio, but a vette is about 9, the ss is 10, and the lightning is 13lbs/per hp

Power to weight ratio of a corvette? Let's use the real numbers gentlemen!

corvette: 345 hp/3100 lbs
ss454: 396 hp/4100 lbs
Lightning: 360 hp/4700 lbs

these number don't tell me squat about the ss454 but boy do they make you take notice of the lightning
