Low oil pressure
Low oil pressure
I bought a 2004 f150 supercrew 4x4 a few days ago and it has stalled out a few times and the low oil pressure light came on but the oil pressure gauge was right where it should be. And now the check engine light is on so I'm wondering if its a bad sensor or what. The truck runs fine I thought it to be strange need some help.
That's what the OBD2 system is for - the CEL means that it's detected an issue and it stores a trouble code. Most auto parts stores will read out the codes free, or you can buy a code reader for about $50. Post the exact P-number codes, not what the interpretation is, we will interpret them.
You need to get the code read and let us know what it was. On another note, the 'gauge' you refer to on the dash is only an 'idiot' light with a needle. It does not read actual pressure, only if pressure is there. You would have to actually remove the sensor and install a real gauge to confirm low oil pressure. These engines are VERY picky about oil and filters and proper maintenance. Do you have any history on service done on the truck ?? I am assuming you have the 5.4L.
