5.4 swapped guys

i have a 98 4x4 with the romeo 4.6. it has 200k on it. im getting ready to change the engine. im thinking of a 99 5.4 swap. this is a daily driver, i pull trailers a lot. if you have made this swap please advise me if you would recomend it and if you would do it again or take another route. not looking for a hot rod and dont want to use premium fuel (super charger), just an increase with out loosing reliability. thanks for your thoughts and opinions

i havent done the swap, but you will need a 5.4 wiring loom, PCM, and torque converter.

I've done it my 98 4.6 to an 02 5.4 swap is easy. No PCM or harness necessary. 4.6 harness will run the 5.4 just fine. You'll need a torque converter out of a 5.4. Mine was $110ish. You will need a tune at some point after the swap to get the full potential. I had 8k on my swap with 4.6 tune. No harm ran great just not to potential. There's some great swap notes on here. But I would say go for it. I had no regrets on mine.

the sales guy SOLD me this truck because i wanted a 5.4. he kept calling with a lower price until i couldnt pass it. the 4.6 has been bullet proof, just really lacking power. i cant see spending the money & replacing it with another 4.6. just looking for conformation it works well, thanks for the posts so far
