Unexpected Engine Acceleration at Low Speed

Newbie here with a question.
Recently purchased 2011 5.0L Screw and have noticed at low speed (parking lot) the engine will accelerate up to about 1800 RPM, yet the truck itself does not increase in speed. A quick tap on the brake pedal will slow the engine.
Is this a quirk from the "gas saving coasting feature" in the transmission or am I just that ignorant--be gentle guys

I doubt there is enough collective experience with that problem. How many miles? Maybe a trip to the dealer is in order. Warranty is probably still there. Could be a throttle control issue..

That is a new one. Sounds like it may need a reflash for the transmission.

Yep, just over 20,000 mi. Have noticed same condition when coming to a stop after running at freeway speeds, just not as pronounced. Have also noted the situation is nonexistent at cold engine temps. All else seems in good working order. In a bit of awe yet as I went from a 20 y.o. Toyota XCab to this 2011

You sure it's not just the super low 1st gear in the 6 speed tranny?

Good question. Would the engine turn 1800 RPM at 5mph in low gear?

If it doesn't feel right to you, then take it in.

Nope, it would be around 800 unless you are getting huge torque converter slip.
