Need help with noises please
Need help with noises please
Ok so I have two different questions here so please bare with me on this one. The truck is a 06 5.4.
First off, in the video I will post, when I start the truck there is a very loud and annoying ticking noise. I know for a fact that I have several leaks in my exhaust but the noise seems to be coming from the back of the motor on the drivers side not the exhaust. I have looked and read things on the cam phasers causing this but no one ever has videos of the noise so I was not sure if this was the same ticking that the phasers may cause. Can anyone help with what might cause this? maybe manifold leak or cracked headers or something.
Secondly, in the video there is a very loud grinding noise. This is not just bad speakers but it is actually there. It seems to be coming from the front of the motor by the belt or fan. The reason this is there is because during a mudding adventure a little while back I hit a hole that had lots of water. The water came up into the engine compartment causing me to lose my alternator and almost hydro locking the motor. Luckily the air filter stopped anything from getting into the motor, I hope. I had my alternator rebuilt, but when I got my truck back there was this grinding noise. Before there was no noise, you could hardly tell the truck was cranked it was so quiet. What could cause this grinding? Anybody?
In the video my phone is laying on the ground right inside the front drivers side wheel just for a reference point to anybody. And after posting the video I realize that you can't really hear any ticking. Its perfectly clear on my phone so maybe its just this computer. If anybody cant hear it just let me know and I will try to get a better recording of it.
