2004 5.4L 3V plug swap preparation.
My trucks miles are getting into the range where I need to worry about the plug change. I am considering doing a few things in the weeks prior to actually performing the plug change per the latest TSB I can find...
#1. I have SeaFoam by the gallon. I am planning on running a pint through each tank for a couple of weeks prior.
#2. Do the SeaFoam top end cleaning (suck 1/3 or so of a pint through the booster vac line, stop it, let it soak for about 20 minutes, and then let the neighbors enjoy the smoke show...
I have months to go before this is needed, so I was wondering if maybe doing the top end cleaning a couple of times would improve my odds of getting all the crud out and making the extraction a fairly clean process.

I've not seen Seafoam used successfully on this but that doesn't mean it won't work... but you'll be the guinea pig, however. Lots of good reports on Techron and that seems a good bet. Your choice. If you go Seafoam, please tell us one way or another.
I personally wouldn't go through all the trouble and wouldn't sweat the plug change either. If you have the Lisle tool or can get one this job is not that big a deal in my opinion. Just follow the Ford TSB using the Motorcraft cleaner they suggest just prior to removal and even if the plugs break its easy to extract them. Just take it slow and follow the directions. Good luck
