Is that a pattern? Change the oil and watch it. Make sure you didnt just get shorted on your last oil change. Change the PVC. Its normal for an engine to use some oil.

You must not have owned a Chevy in the 60's, 70's, or 80's. they all burned oil at least a qt in 2k miles. I owned lots of Chevys during those years. I was a big Chevy fan during those years but I never owned a Chevy that didn't burn at least a qt in 2k miles.

I've owned 2 5.4L 2 valve Ford trucks and they used a qt in 2500 miles, one until 80k when it decided to go 5k miles before being a qt low and the same thing happened on the second one at about 71k miles.

My ex-father-in-law was a mechanic and he would go ballistic when someone mentioned Quaker State oil. That was the one he had experience with causing sludge buildup. Back in the old days, I never had a sludge buildup using Havoline. I did change it at 3k miles back then. And My new 70 302 cu in Mustang didn't need any oil added in 6k miles which was the factory recommended oil change duration. I ran it to 6k miles 3 times and then switched to 3k mile change intervals.

I am not brand loyal and have owned many different makes. I have not had a North American made vehicle that didn't use some oil. As mentioned earlier in this thread they come with a dip stick for a reason. To go 5000 miles without checking the oil is a completely foreign concept to me. Good luck with your Chevy. All my buddies drive them and they have to check their oil too. You should sell your truck and take the bus.
