Powerdyne Superchargers for 5.0L
Ok as most of you know I have:
1993 F-150 Regualar Cab
2WD
AUTOMATIC
5.0L (302)
45,000 Original Miles
All stock except K&N Drop-In
I have looked all over for some performance upgrades that will still keep the engine reliable. I want some big power not just a little. So I have been looking at superchargers. I have looked around and it looks like PowerDyne makes the best looking and most complete kit I have seen. They don't have any actual HP Gain #'s on their site but I'm guessing probably 70hp@6psi. They have a 6psi and a 9psi kit for my truck but I think it would be much better for the engine to run 6psi. I want the truck to stay very reliable because it's a daily driver, and I want somthing that looks good under the hood and is fairly easy to install (I know it's not to easy though). So what do you guys think about the PowerDynes ? Are they good ? Will it effect my reliabilty ? And will the stock transmission handle it ? I have a 3-speed automatic I would assume thats an E40D right ?
Thanks for all help and opinions !

I havn't dealt with to many PowerDyne's but ATI ProChargers, Yes... The ATI setup for the 5.0 is intercooled. From my stand point it has the best bang for the buck. Yes, you should help your transmission out my adding a shift kit for one thing, also a transmission cooler, maybe two...
Just my thoughts...

Better get that shift problem fixed first.
BTW, is it an AOD or E4OD?

BMW325: You have a AOD. If you have OD,2,1, and a overdrive cancel switch on your shift lever then its a E4od!

Welcome to the AOD club. That explains your "clunk" on OD->3rd downshift.
You can use the chip and blower, but it takes some "tuning" of the chip to get the most benefit. See the Lightning threads. If I were going to build up my truck, I'd start by doing some head work (port & polish, etc.). Then, after getting it running really good via natural aspiration, I'd start the blower mods. But, before anything, you need to get that tranny beefed up. Any engine over 300HP will probably rip the guts out of it in no time flat.

but anyways I didn't know that you could use a superchip and a supercharger together ?
