Multiple issues at 90K
Today I was driving home from a long trip. about 60 miles from home the truck whould shake and vibrate and got worse going up hills. The check engine light would flash. On the down hill streches it would go back to being normal. When I got off the interstate and wating at lights truck would almost stall out. I pulled into a Auto parts store to have thm read the codes. said I had multple codes 7 of the cylinders were missing or showing they were missing. The o2 sensors had errors and the left bank was showing running rich. Will be taking it into Ford in the morning any ideas what might be causing all the isues to start all at once. The truck has 90K on it. Its a 05 with the 5.4L.
Yep.

The O2 sensor codes show some cylinders are not firing and un burned gas is going through the exhaust.
The flashing check engine light means there is a hard misfire.
So far, everything makes perfect sense. Spark plugs are not firing.
The culprit could be a few things: Fouled plugs, bad coil packs, bad PCM (probably not), bad wires.
I would start with changing all your spark plugs. Then if you have any errors on cylinders misfiring, I would check the codes and replaces the coil packs on those cylinders (if there are any). If that didn't fix it I would check into the wires.
That's just me. I would put a hundred dollar bill it's either plugs or coil packs. You're at the right mileage to have something like this come up.

I'm more inclined to pay for the diagnostic fee for a 2005 5.4 3V as per the Injector letter, ( to rule it out, if not the root cause), than to risk hydrolocking the engine. To me, that's Job #1.
AFTER that's been determined, one way or another, Then by all means, change the plugs, boots and connectors (remember the anti-sieze, dielectric, etc). That's past due anyway.
That last thing, IF it still misfires, is to R&R ALL the coils. Visteon / Motorcraft as replacements. But I'll wager the coils are fine.
While yer at it, change the front O2's as well. Get yer cats checked as prolonged rich running can damage them.

Well it ended up being the fuel injector deal. #8 was the one that went bad. They replaced it and changed the oil. A week latter the check engine light came on again this time it was the cats. they didn't have the parts had to wait a few days ended up being a wek with the holiday in there. It now running fine again.
Fords extended warenty lasts until either 2015 or your truck has 120,000 mile on it. if you keep the truck past that make sure you replace the injectors.. the 05 got junk for injectors..
