Unhappy Is it Gas or Diesel?

Hello, I have just recently purchased an 04 Ford F-150 S Crew FX4. I got it home and I noticed a Knocking sound almost like a diesel. Afraid I took to the internet and I have read a lot of posts. A lot of people say to just bear it and it will be fine. I'm also seeing a lot of people saying their engines seize up. I'm just wanting to get the story straight from anyone that has had this problem recently and what there might be to properly remedy it.

May also want to check / replace the timing chain tensioner & guides.

e.g:

Thanks MGD Trucks got 148k miles on it. I'm almost afraid of changing out the sparkplugs on it since I saw a lot about them breaking off in the engine.

At least you know it's not a diesel now.

You know, -since diesels don't have plugs.

Haha

Sorry, I should have resisted.

Haha I thought it was funny, because my dad came over to the house I fired it up and he asked me that question.
