1996 F-150 XL Fuel Flow

Just acquired a 1996 F-150 XL with dual tanks...History of the truck is that it had been sitting in a garage for sometime so I would expect stale gas and possibly gumming inside tanks and lines...Both tanks are now full with fresh gas, and the rear tank fuel flow is normal...When I switch to front tank, the engine dies in less than 30 seconds and fuel gauge falls to empty...What is this type of system composed of and what should I check/replace???

In the 90's, there was a TSB/Recall for the fuel transfer pump assembly...
