02, 4.6, 170k miles. Ran great then all of the sudden it shuts off! pulled over & restarted. Now it just shuts off at random, gauges & lights reset & stumbles. It only seems to happen under a load & acts like it run out of fuel (not the case tho) has anyone run into similar? Thanks

 

Check all your connections at the battery, ground straps etc

 

Scan your computer for trouble codes. Hopefully there will be something in there to point you in the right direction.

Without that information, it could be anything. Bad fuel pump, crank sensor, a pissed off hamster living under the hood, or just about anything.

 

Thanks everyone, Ill definatley check out everything. I thought I fed the hamster damn little ingrate! I just hope its something simple (fingers crossed)

 

Ok so I replaced the batter terminals (yuk) & checked all the ground straps, Im beginning to think it may be the fuel pump? its fine at an idle but under a load she sputters then dies, seems to be worse on a hill.

 

Well I ended up taking it to Ford service, after 4 hrs of diag theyre saying its the PCM, I cant win...
