Question 5.4L just quit running

Weird thing happened to me today...I stopped at a railroad crossing to look both ways...and all of a sudden..my engine just quit without any warning and all of the idiot lights came on. I put it in Park...and started it right back up..but there was no indication, hesitation or burp of any kind. I drove it the rest of the afternoon without any problems..but that was the first time it ever did that. I had 3/4 of a tank of gas.
Maybe it is mad that it is getting traded in soon???

My Explorer did the same thing about two weeks ago, I checked the air filter, clogged solid at 15,000 miles. I figured that must be it. Don't know where all of the dirt came from. I changed it and no problems since, it needed it.

You know, I have heard of these things happening.

Oh, wait that was "Close Encounters of the Third Kind." Sorry!

I replaced the air filter recently..so I don't think it was that...or maybe it is... I had a K&N filter in there for a month or so..and recently took it out and replaced it with a regular paper filter.(I removed the K & N to save it for the 2000 I ordered).
Maybe the computer needed to adjust itself after being use to the higher flow??
The truck is running fine..but it sure was something for it to just quit suddenly.

Dustoff, one thing I forgot to mention about the time my Explorer did it, it was very hot and I was approaching a red light that turned green just as I got to the light and I tried accelerate. That is when it stalled. The heat index that day was like 110 degrees. That along with the air filter seemed to be a good explaination. It has never done it again.
