Exclamation Attempting Piston Slap Solution - Help!

Hello all.

I own a 1997 F-150 4x4 S/C with the 5.4L motor with 33k miles. My engine has been diagnosed with piston slap by the dealer while under warranty. Though, they claim the FQR replacement is NOT available for the 1997 model year vehicles and thus cannot correct my situation.

However, I have read on this site of other F-150 owners who have both a 1997 truck and have received or will receive an engine replacement under the FQR program.

What I am requesting is that anyone who has received or will receive an FQR for their 1997 F-150 please contact me via e-mail and provide the following details:

* Dealer name replacing engine
* Date of truck manufacture
* VIN of truck (optional)
* Your real name, if possible (note: optional - this is only to inform my local dealer I have real people - these will be held in strict confidentiality. This includes the VIN. This information would just lend great support to my situation.

My e-mail is: darcpa@worldnet.att.net

Your help is greatly appreciated, and I plan on calling the dealer Monday. So, the sooner the better on this info.

Thanks in advance.

If you have any questions about this request, please e-mail. I check it daily.

Dirk

Read my post in 'FQR Experience' (post#24 dated 9-20-99). And Rev Up your typewriter. A lawyer responded to a post of mine which I summarize in this referenced post. His original response in way down on the page 5 of the archives, almost at the bottom - more piston slap related postings. If you look soon, it will still be there.

Other suggestion is, go to another dealer and have it diagnosed there - and forget these guys.

I am having mine replaced today. As soon as it is done I will e-mail you the info! Make sure that you write a letter to the Dispute Resolution Board now!! After the 36K mile warranty expires they will be of no help!
