Burning oil
Listen to the ones who told you 6 qts. (on an '01), ignore the ones who said 7 qts. because they don't know what they're talking about. 6 qts. WHEREVER that puts you on the stick IS FULL! Many, many vehicles currently have a "range", not a "low" and "full" like they used to. Anywhere in that "range is perfectly OK. DON'T fill it to the "top" mark, that is most often overfull, not good! I have owned 6 new vehicles in the last 12 years (cars and trucks) and NONE of them have had a "low" and "full" stamped on the stick, only a range. 3V 5.4L take 7 qts., but NOT your truck, ONLY 6 qts. (NOT 6&1/2 or 6&3/4, ONLY 6!)

- That's all I got to say.
Was that dipstick measure before or after you ran it? You need to run the engine to check for leaks and fill the filter and after doing that for a few minutes then check your stick. In fact if there's no leaks drive it for a couple miles and then check the stick.
