Newbie here!!

I just bought a 2001 F-150 Supercab Flareside 4.6L V8. I'm not a car guy by any stretch of the imagination. To keep it short, what are the aftermarket mods that I can get at a low cost and can install easily? And I emphasize low cost because I'm not going to spend an exhorbitant amount of money on modifications. Thanks for any help.

Thumbs up Welcome to the boards

Hi useless

I would start with a superchip and then an air intake such as k/n or airaid and then a good exhaust system. Those are the three things that will get you the most performance.

I hope this helps.

Larry.

In my opinion you should do the exhaust first, then the FIPK and follow all of that with the SuperChip. Personally I think allowing the engine to breath better first reduces stress on the engine and gives more opportunity for mods like a chip to perform. Just my opinion.

I did a Borla Cat Back exhaust, filter box mod (see tech article section), and a Superchip all for around $750.00 (including the exhaust install). My truck is certainly not a race car now, but I like the sound of the new pipes, and I definitely feel a noticeable gain in performance. I also picked up about 1 MPG in town, and probably 2-3 on the hwy. Well worth the investment. Just a word of caution, though, once you start doing these mods, it is awfully hard to stop...
