Post Heated O2 Sensor Circuit Malfunction, Error Code P0156

I read an error code from my truck computer. The following error code was displayed, P0156 Heated O2 Sensor Circuit Malfunction (Bank 2, Sensor 2) I reset the check engine light. I am sure it will come on again after I do some highway driving. Does anyone have any suggestions how to go about fixing this problem without shelling out the big $$$ to have Ford fix it.

Thanks....

It's probably one of the oxygen sensors, there are 4. Two are ahead of the catalytic converters, 2 are aft of them. Not sure exactly which one the code points too, but it is probably one of the ones behind the converters. If you clear the code and swap the two aft sensors, you should be able to verify this by the new error code that will be generated. The sensors are relatively easy to change, and are worth about $60 each, and they are available over the internet.

PO156 is the downstream(past the cat. towards the rear) Bank 2 which is left side (drivers side). Mine recently showed code PO141 so I purchased a sensor through Ford($75) And it took care of the problem(mine was downstream, bank 1). I asked Ford if they could check the sensor which was in hand and they told me that it had to be in the truck and would cost about $80 to check it. I don't know if this was to pull the code or if they would actually check the sensor itself? If your thinking of buying a sensor you might want to check out www.carparts.com, they have sensors by Bosch for Ford trucks for about $40. Don't know if this helps you or not but good luck.

What method do you use to easily change the sensors. I have the tool, prelubed the threads, and ran engine to warm things up.Any other ideas?

I just got this code on my F150 and all I can say is "love that search function"
cause I didn't know which bank was which and was thinking bank 2 was
the passenger side until I searched the forums.
10 yrs old or not, I got my answer.

Thanks F150online
