86 stiff throttle

I have an 86 f150, it has the fuel injected 302 in it. The throttle is so stiff. I've driven my friends fords and all of them have a nice soft touchy gas pedal unlike mine that it seems you have to push down on it really hard. Anyone else have this problem or does anyone know what i can do to fix it?

check the throttle cable, linkage, body, pedal for smoothness of operation....

It has a brand new cable on it because the original snapped and when the cable was off the pedal itself moved fine inside the mount, nice and freely so i'm thinking maybe the throttle body itself?

could be....the throttle body assembly might need to be cleaned also....like I previously stated....check all components for operation.....

i had a stiff one too. cleaned the throttle body with carb cleaner and problem went away. the carbon build up makes the butterfly stick.

I'll give it a shot, it kinda seems like the pedal should be sticking out more because it seems close to the floor. there isn't much of a range for it to be pressed in. when you really wanna hit the gas you have to push it through the floor. put it does idle fine so i know that its not pulling on the throttle

Well, I figured it out somehow. I went to the junkyard and pulled a throttle body off of a truck that I sat in first and made sure the gas pedal felt fine. Took it home and cleaned it out real good and swapped them out. Also I looked at my pedal assembly in the cab and it seemed to be very close to the floor so I dont think i was getting a full stroke out of it. I pulled it off, heated it up and bent it out more away from the floor. Completely different now. Like night and day so just a thought to anyone have the same problems and thanks everyone for the help.
