Cool Just got my new F-150

I am proud to annouce that last friday I purchased a new F-150. My former topic named "Soon to buy a F-150" I stated that I wanted the 5.4, but I had to compromise with my dad for gas mileage and go with the 4.6 .

But when I got to the dealer the fleet manager, who I was making the deal with, printed out a truck that had more than I asked for and the 5.4L engine. The sticker was 26k and I told him this was way out of my price range, but he told me not to worry about it. He then showed me a F-150 XLT S/C with the v-6 and stripped besides the stuff included with the XLT. Sticker at 23k he marked it down to 21k. I figured I would be settling for something around there when on the first sheet, with my dream truck, he wrote down 22.3k! 22k was the top of my range and I almost started to start screaming for joy. My mom then asked me what I was thinking and I told her that this was my dream truck and it was actually in our range. I took it for a test drive and then we came back and finalized the deal. I realized then what just happened, I was buying the truck I always dreamed of .

And damn is it fun to drive! My days of trying to look cool driving my dads ranger with a top speed of 55 are over. Now I can cruise knowing that I have the power behind me for all the fun I'll ever have driving

BTW, I would like to thank everyone who responded to my last topic. Most of everything said helped me or will help me somewhere down the line.

Talking

Hey that's absolutly fantastic
Just as a side note, you maybe shouldn't mention to the parents that your truck can "actually" do more than 55mph and never ever say a word about the superchip removing the top speed limiter!!!

Thanks guys I'm off to footbal practice, it's hell week , but I'll leave a response now because I might not be able to check the thread for a few days.

Well actually both my parents think that I'm a good driver and they trust me. But in thinking of a way to convince my mom, she was the one at the dealer with me, that the bigger engine was more than just a way to 'drive crazy' but it could come in handy in tight spots. Later that night I was picking up dinner for myself after I showed a few of my friends the new truck. Anyways I was on the freeway coming home, going to change lane. I looked over to my left and the next lane looked clear. There were, what it looked like, headlights 2 lanes over so I changed lanes. It turned out that those headlights where actually a Big rig going about 75 in the next lane. When I finished my lane change I looked in my mirror and saw the Big Rig who put his brights on to let me know he was there. He was too close for comfort and I know those things can't exactly stop on a dime so I used that bigger engine to speed up quickly to a save distance. Although I'm sure now that there probably would have been enough time to even speed up with my dad's ranger, its just a story on how the extra hp helped

Thanks guys, im late

FuNewGee,

Congrats on the new truck!! I share your excitment; I couldn't stay out of the thing when I brought mine home almost two years ago. I just love that new truck smell.

I got my Superchip last night, now it's on its way back to Florida to be looked at...seems Ford stuck an oddball computer into my truck. If and when you go for your Superchip, I wanna plug for Mike Troyer, our resident Superchips Distributor here on the web site. The man is a true gentleman and stands behind his product.

Oh, and some unsolicited driving advice (since I became street legal at your age, and have clocked 21 mostly accident-free years since)...check over your shoulder whenever executing a lane change, especially in that beautiful big new truck of yours. And never change more than one lane at a time. People are just too squirelley these days...they can zip into what you think is clear, even if they're driving some putt-putt roller skate of a car.

I'd just hate for you to come onto this site someday and report that your dream truck is now a crumpled heap. Worse yet, if we never hear from you again.

It's nice to have the extra horses, but sharp driver skills will keep you alive in a Yugo (well, maybe).

Have fun and drive safe, and knock 'em dead on the gridiron.

About the price-

Due to human error the price I agreed to paying(22.3) was not the correct price for that truck. That price is actually $1,400 below invoice!!! I knew when I reserched the invoice on the 4.6 that came out to be 22.8 something went terribly wrong in my favor!

But the ford dealer recognized that they just lost 1,400 bucks on a truck they could probably sell for a few grand over invoice. So they called my mom and gave her two options, either: pay the 1,400 bucks or return the truck! My mother being the smooth talker she is got them to agree to spliting the 1400 so we payed 700.

Still in the end, I got the truck of my dreams for $700 dollars under invoice! All because of luck and human error.

Thumbs up

This is a great story for all. It's great to see someone who with the use of the Board get a dream fulfilled. It just makes me sit back and smile to see FuNewGee so excited over his new truck.
