I would call foul on them. I understand them charging extra to remove broken plugs but sounds like they did not follow the TSB on removing them and now they need to remove the head to get the sleeve out. That's their fault for not following the proper procedure. If they won't cover the additional cost for removing the head I would keep calling ford until you get a resolution. Don't call anyone names or be rude as that will not get you anywhere but be firm.

If you bought the vehicle used, I suspect that Ford will have very little involvement since they will relate that much "repair" to the dealer, who is the responsible prime. Befor I have the dealer pull the head or swap engines, I really, really think I would call another mechanic or machine shop to get pricing and options.

If you decide to go crate, gofastparts.com I have foound has the best prices on most of the crte engines....their website isn't the best but their service is good...highly recommend speaking to them by phone.

plug issues

Golly I find it hard to believe that with all of the threads on this site with the 2005 spark plug issues and all of the advice that has been repeated to remove the plugs ASAP we still run into fellows that run the original plugs to max mileage and dealer ships that have no idea what they are doing. I just don't get it. FS

They should NOT charge you for their mistake! Broken plug is one thing, but pushing it into the cylinder....that's just ignorance on their part! And if you have to end up going with a new motor by all means....DON'T LET THEM DO THE SWAP!!!
