Cracked block HELP!!

my friend has a 88 302 and the block it trashed, what years can i use, or are all 302s the same

Ya, basically the same, but I'd find one around the same year or newer, say up to 1993 or 1996, not sure if the block and internals changed much from 87-96.

if he wants a motor upgrade we have a 351 that needs valve cover gaskets
