K&N vs. Airaid...
Just got a nice 97 F150 std. cab long bed 2wd with a 4.6. I want to add more hp and improve mileage as do most of you. Which system is the best and will add the most power? The K&N FIPK,just a K&N Filter,or the AirAid system?
thank you
Also, what mail order stores have the best prices on these? thanks again

They are both almost identical. The Airaid has a better bracket than the OLD K&N system. But the newer K&N system has corrected that. They both use a K&N Air Filter.
I have the Airaid on my truck.
They're both for sale on the F150Online Store for about $189 I think.

Also, if you want to add more HP you should get a SuperChip and a new exhaust system. Those two plus the FIPK will give you the most bang for your buck...

Thats exactly what we have planned. But I was also thinking about a new MAF like the one that Sean Hyland sells, on the mustangs they are usually responsible for substantial gains so i would assume they would do the same for the truck. Also I wonder if a larger throttle body wouldn't help.
I have tha Airaid on my truck. It alone made a difference in performance and mileage before I did a muffler swap...changed out the stock for a Vortex cherry bomb. Now the truck really flies.
The Airaid will also give you a pleasant power note when you lay into the throttle. I'm sure the K&N will do all the Airaid does; I picked the Airaid because at the time it had a better support system and it just plain looks cool under the hood.
Either way, it's a mod well worth the $$, and you now already know they are on sale in the online store on this site. And congrats on your new truck!
