COP system replacement coils

All the coils sets I've purchased in the past from Global are GAMMA's. I've never had a problem with them. BUT, it's been awhile since my last purchase. From 05 - 09 they sold GAMMA's. I believe these are or WERE the good ones.

I'm not sure what's changed, but since quite a few seem to be having trouble with these cheap coils, I'll post what I've heard and found in the past. I spent a little time researching an alternative here and there and came up with this.

I've tried to tracking down the main supplier in the past. The trail got cold, ending at a manufacturer over seas, China. Although there isn't supporting data either way, it's hard to believe Visteon (Europe) and Motorcraft coils originate from same place.

From what I've heard in the past, Visteon coils haven't been failing from ebay suppliers. They're a little more expensive, most under $200 for a set.

So where does the trail end with Visteon coils ? -

Yea.

So, I'm sure not going to pay the Motorcraft price. I have a hunch where they come from, -just can't be positive so I won't post about that yet. Feel free to guess.

The best money spent may be on Visteon's at this point. Since Visteon is or has been an official Ford supplier in the past. Also, I would imagine Ford spec'ed these coils.

They're out there. -

I'm going to try a set as quite a few have in the past and reported good luck with them. You can visit the Ford Lincoln, Cadillac forums and search "Visteon Coils" for user data.

If anyone has solid information to add, feel free to do so.

Good Luck!

My replacement starter out of a salvage yard was a visteon. Two years later and

no problems.Visteon must be to Ford like delco -remy is to GM.
They do seem to be quality parts.

Good find jbrew, I'm going to be in the market for some soon, been leary about the global kinds, but for a bit more dough, Visteon is probably a better idea. They are very close with Ford products, such as rads etc so I trust them. Another coil to consider is AC Delco too, they are not cheapest but not too bad either. Found lots on Rock Auto too, decent prices.

Looks like $180 shipped for 8 DG511/60-1005's, but I don't see anyone selling DG508/60-1000 by the set.

Great info. This might help simma down some of the upset global purchases along with customer service. Ive got about 20k on a set of globals with no issues. But when they do act up, good to see there is a reputable option other than the costly motorcrafts. I had no clue they existed.

If these are "motorcraft" like they say.... these are also a good deal
http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-Ignition...48692871777418

It lists the part as
PARTS BRAND: MOTORCRAFT
"DISCLAIMER: All manufacturers' names, numbers, symbols and descriptions are used for reference purposes only."

But then it goes on to say
"We specialize in OEM, new take-off, and brand name parts. "

So I dunno if those are actually motorcraft cop's or not.

Thanks, there's really no warranty with them, to speak of anyway. -

The disclaimer lol -

"All sales are final. Any returns are subject to a 20% Restocking Fee. Only new, unused, 100% saleable condition Products are eligible to be returned."

But hey, maybe they don't really need one. From what I hear so far, -they work and they last.

Yea, I'd have to call them on that. From what I see, - past sales show 4 and in history it shows that one user purchased the 4. Also shows that just 1 is available.

Yea, I would call them. To inquire about a possible package deal like the 511's. (?) They're contact info. -

ALANIS DEALS

Just be aware, I've noticed they also sell/offer other coils. They're called "Herllux Ignition Coils". Yea, offered at a much cheaper price. I know nothing about those. Just point out you want Visteon's and not the Herllux's.

True Motorcraft coils are black , numbers across the top and are usually paint marked. I have some of those on the shelf. I have a pic somewhere. (?) - Yea, these are all Motorcraft coils purchased individually except for the Green tag, that's an old one out of a set.

They like to use that paint.
