COP system replacement coils
These are the real deal here and a good one. That's what TRUE Motorcraft coil looks like. O'Riely's sells them for $58 a piece last I checked. Dealership's average $90 apiece. Same thing except cheaper -

True Motorcraft coils are black , numbers across the top and are usually paint marked. I have some of those on the shelf. I have a pic somewhere. (?) - Yea, these are all Motorcraft coils purchased individually except for the Green tag, that's an old one out of a set.

They like to use that paint.

"This part is not compatible with 2002 Ford F-150 ".
But if I put my girlfriends car in(99 crown vic) it says it fits?
I know they both take the same COPs...lol
Look at the e-bay posting pictures real close and it "looks like" someone took a dremel and ground off a number and re-stamped another number right below it. Seems a little suspect. Don't think I would bite on that one...
I just bought 8 Jeg's brand COPs for mine. They were on sale for $19.99 a piece and look identical to Accels (except for the yellow color).
When I get my time-sert done, I'm gonna have new plugs and these new Cops put in ....and hopefully my truck will be good to me!

It did mention something in the description about scratch program, wtf that is I don't know but they look good and are original looking everywhere else so.....
Here is the history on 4.6/5.4 COP's. Jbrew and I dis-agreed a few years ago but it is obvious the Global's were never OEM's.
COP's were originally built at the Ypsilanti plant in Ypsilanti, MI as part of Ford Motor Co. In 2000, the plant was spun-off into the Visteon fiasco (as someone else mentioned similar to the Delphi vs. GM deal). Visteon-Ypsi produced 100% COP's for Ford until 2008 when the V6 iVCT engine was produced then other suppliers were used. Ypsi is also where all the starter motors were built. In 2006, all the NA union plants (which included the Ypsilanti Plant) under Visteon were grouped together under ACH (Automotive Components Holdings - president was a Ford employee) for various reasons - you may ask if you wish.
The goal of ACH was to sell off all the plants. However a few plants were kept open to absorb all the union workers that were given the opportunity to stay within the Ford umbrella. There were two plants that were decided which to be re-absorbed directly as a Ford plant - Sterling Heights and Rawsonville, around 2007.
During the ACH period, the Rawsonville plant which mainly produced alternators (yeah Bosch was never an OEM supplier either - only for fleet replacements), throttle bodies, wiper motors, etc. were getting out of all those components. Therefore, part of the Visteon-ACH-Ford agreement was to transfer starter motors & COP's from the Ypsilanti plant to the Rawsonville plant. So starter motors and COP's were once again being produced directly by Ford starting in 2008.
The only COP's which were continued to be built at Rawsonville were for the 4.6 & 5.4 engines. Once those engines were out of production, COP's were no longer made at the Ford Rawsonville plant. And yes, they were vertically integrated meaning they were not simply a final assembly shop.
COP's have not been produced at the Raws plant for about a year now mainly to stock up on service parts. They were required to batch a 10year supply of service parts. Expensive - yes, but at least they are true OEM. Once the supply is gone, it is gone.

Look at the enlarged photo. It looks as though someone has ground off the name of the manufacturer. Part #s are visible, but I don't know if they are any good. If they are true OEM, the name should be on them.

My bad... Didn't see the "03" in sig. Guess I'm just fixated on the '04, as I am about to embark on the infamous plug change today. Got the Lisle tool and all the parts and am losing sleep over this thinking about all the crap that can go wrong. Just over thinking it, I guess. Maybe, just maybe, may get lucky, but I doubt it.
Bought truck with 81K on it and has 87K now, so I don't know if the plugs have been changed before, but doubt that also. Can't be that lucky. Would love to put a new / unused Lisle 65600 tool up for sale.
Truck has the much discussed intermittent miss after 45 / 50 mph in OD and light throttle increase, with no codes thrown. Even doesn't register a code with scan tool connected and logging and on a test drive.
Planning on steps in order.... 1st: plugs (and compression test), 2nd: MAF sensor cleaning, 3rd: COPs, then 4th: injectors. See what happens and test after taking 1 step at a time just so I know exactly what is causing the misfire.
If going to step 3, haven't decided on whether to stick to a full set of Mortorcraft COPs or go to to a full set of Accels or Visteons or Jegs. Always liked Jeg's brand stuff, as I have never had one of thier parts fail and price seems right. Just need to avoid the "white box" knockoffs from across the Western pond. Cheapest isnt always the "cheapest"........ I don't trust buying off "Fleabay", as there are so many scammers out there saying OEM "style" or "replacement". 90% of the time, they are OEM "like", same shape/color, but that's it.
