05 engine removal info needed

I may need to pull my5.4, 3v motor for a rebuild. The motor hydrolocked due to the infomus stuck open fuel injector. Talked to Ford and checked the build date. Yes, it is covered under the exstended warantee program. I build engines and may want to rebuild this myself. Ive read the manuel on pulling the engine. It dosent mention what a real PIA it might be. Some machanics have mentioned having to lift the cab. Can anybody give me some input on pulling the engine. I may decide to hand it over to the dealer and let ford cover what they should. I have no idea if the local Ford mechanics have a clue. Handing my Truck over to the dealer, to me, is like gambling. I dont gamble. Any input on pulling the engine would be great. Any input on dealing with a dealer on the warrantee program would also help. I dont want to get into a problem with a dealer as they hold my truck hostage. By the way, I worked at a dealership for two years. They have no hart.

I would let Ford do it just because its free.. Pulling the engine shouldnt be that much different then my truck and the deal is you remove the intake then it can be done with the cab in place. Let ford do it. See if you can get them to replace it with an 08+ engine that has the redesigned heads and the cam phaser fixes..

Thanks for the 08+ tip. From what ive learned, Ford has a central rebuild shop that does all there engins. Its an aftermarket suplier. Ford had to be out of there mind not to recall these engines. There also out of there mind NOT to replace ALL the injectors as part of the exstended warrantee program.

If you do it yourself then you can also count on replacing the cats on your nickle. Rich motors kill cats and it should be included in the work.

Let them do the work, pay for the balance of the new injectors, and just bird dog them while they do the work.

Suck up to the service manager and ask if you can check on the progress as they work on your truck.

I like your thinking. You are right about the cats. The codes are saying the o2 and canister are effected also. The service manager is about to have a new best friend. Wonder what his vices are?

If you have a good dealer close to you that really helps. I have 2 that are close, one I wouldn't even change my blinker fluid, the other one is top notch.

Good luck.

Not sure, but if you tell us where you're at I'm sure people will chime in. Both good and bad.
