You'd be better off doing this>>> https://www.f150online.com/forums/ar...ght=swap+notes

It will be a lot less headaches

That an upgrading to a 3v isn't worth the trouble might as well go to the 4v navigator engine

I dont think the Nav 3v is really anything special and I wouldn't want a 3v period. Do a 2v 5.4 swap. You'll be happier in the long run and its much easier..

it would be worth paying more for a 2v. More reliable engine albeit less powerful and it would be about 10 times easier to convert to a 5.4 2v. There was one guy here who did the 3v conversion. He posted lots of info on it and it really looked the PITA.. power steering needs custom work Throttle body stff like that. Top it all off with the known issues the 3v engine has.. Cam phasers going out plugs getting stuck in the heads and all. The 2v is a more reliable engine.

once you read about the issues involved in the 2 valve to 3 valve swap you'll see the error of your ideas

Drop a 2V 5.4 out a Lightning in there.
You'll get plenty of power then and an easier swap that's more reliable.

Thanks for all of your advice,I ended up getting a 4.6 out of a 97 Expedition with 70,000 miles on it its a Windsor just like mine.I got it from a guy and his Dad real nice gentleman he gave me the motor for $100 he was super cool and was defiantly not hurting for money so I took his word that the motor is good,I should be able to just swap it out with the old motor correct?....should I go threw the hassle of changing the PI heads from the old motor? Thanks for your help I really appreciate it!
