I have a 2004 F150 FX4..My question is, when the "low fuel" comes on,
how many gallons are actually left in the tank?

On my 01 I had about 3 gallons.

 

I've gone about 15 miles I think with mine on and didn't run out.

 

I never had a fill more than 26 gallons. I have run it maybe 15, 20 miles tops after the light, but never exceeded 26 gallons.



'02 4.6 4x2 with long wheel base. The long has a 30 gal. tank.

 

They vary. My 150 is good for maybe 30 miles (I'm guessing) never pushed it that far but have gone 20-25. My Expy is a different storey, when the light comes on you better see a gas station.

 

The best way to check is the next time the fuel light goes on pull in to the next gas station and fill it up. If you have a 30 gal tank in your vehicle for example and the tank will only take 27 gals to completely fill then you have 3gals before empty after the light comes on. This will work with any vehicle as long as you know the gas tank capacity.
