Missing??

I got the 4.6L in my truck, and ever since i got it, it has "shook" a little. I did the gotts mod, and it fixed the shaking and low RPM's in park, but when i put it into drive, it shakes, and hesitates. I have the check engine light on, but it only turned of recently after towing my trailer. When i was towing uphill, the CEL was flashing, and i have noticed that even after driving 2 minutes, the whole exhaust was Very warm. Any ideas what going on??

If your CEL is flashing... then in all likelihood, you have some stored codes.

It would be best to get the codes scanned & repost your findings, in this way everyone here can be the most help. NOT trying to be sharp or harsh just that it helps present a better picture as to what is going on with your unit. & then zero in on whats the issues are.

And please post the exact numerical codes - they are 4 digits preceded by a "P".

If your exhaust is getting hot, you are cooking your cats and will probably have to replace them when you get the cause fixed.

How many miles on your spark plugs, what brand are they, and how many miles on your coils?

My CEL only flashes when i am towing uphill. My dads friend has a OBD2 scanner, but idk when i can get that. And im getting my exhaust done here soon, so ill probabally remove or replace the cats. And i dont know about the spark plugs or coil packs, since its a bitch to get them out of this truck and look at them.

Go buy your own scanner, they are cheap. No sense to even speculate what the problem could be without the codes.

Do you have spark plug wires on that 2000 model?

P1450 Unable To Bleed Up Fuel Tank Vacuum

I don't think I've ever seen that one before. What does this mean, vents on the tank ? Return line ? Bleed up FTV, huh, maybe it's referring to the regulator. Seems like anything else would be emissions. Iduno, just thinkin out loud lol

Well ive never had a problem(i dont think) with lack of fuel, but it probabally contributes to the missing. And that P0308 code is missfire in cylinder 8 detected. So probabally just spark plug or coil pack? Could be something stupid as the spark plug isnt gapped (not my fault) lol.

Well, I found this and I had the same problem in vent filter, before the canister. BUT, I never had that DTC. I had an EVAP DTC. This is from another user -

P1450 DTC code, problem solved!

I figured out why P1450 was set, and have a good idea of why it went away.

I had long contemplated over how debris, spider egg sacs, and other foreign objects could enter the evap system. I snooped around the evap system and had a hunch it had something to do with a black box that was attached to a hose that connected to the canister vent solenoid. The other end of the hose went nowhere - it sucked in fresh atmosphere.

It turns out the box is the solenoid FILTER and there are no recognizable part #s on the exterior. It appears to be constructed out of a series of air pathways with a foam mesh block to further prevent solid objects from entering the evap system.

Well, at the other end of the hose (right where fresh air enters the hose) it was BLOCKED by a spider egg sac. There was a tiny pinhole where the spiders apparently exited after they hatched which could explain why P1450 was no longer set, and why removing the gas cap causes a HISS. There was not enough air to relieve the vacuum but enough air to not set a code. :wtf:

I removed the egg sac and used some nylon window screen mesh to prevent large spiders from gaining access in the future. Regardless, I know where to look if I ever get the same problem.

Executive summary:
A spider egg sac blocked the fresh air inlet hose upstream of the canister vent solenoid filter, which set the P1450 DTC code due to lack of air getting into the evap system. Once the spiders hatched, a small pinhole formed at the sac, allowing a minute amount of air to enter which did not set off the DTC code, but not enough air to prevent the HISS when removing the gas cap.

The PO308 - = Most likely a coil (drivers side all the back by the firewall), IF your running proper spark plugs.
