Unhappy having engine probelms at 63,000 miles

I own a black 1997 Ford xcab XLT, 3 door truck, my probelm is that I am having to put a brand new motor in it due to a bent rod. I only have 63,000 miles on this truck. Has any one had this same probelm. Some one mentioned that the 1997 are made with a special motor. I know that is is going to cost me between 2500 and 4500 dollars to have my truck fixed.

I also have a 97 Ford F-150. I had to replace my motor at 30,144 miles.. Thank god it was still in warranty, but my problem was i the main caps. My truck is not a daily driven vehicle either.. Just something for me to show-off in everynow and then.. I also take to the tracks.. Sorry to hear about your engine.. Good Luck in replacing it..

My engine was replaced 2 weeks ago. The engines had a timing cover leak (3 years ago) that caused internal engine damage.
I reaserched the national highway transportation safety adminstation web site under complaints. I found 40 complaints of engines blowing between 30,000 and 60,000 mile. Planet feed back also had complaints.
My truck is a 97 with 65,000 mile. no warrenty.

I called FORD 1 800 392 3673. explained the research I found and and they contacted the local dealer. It took 3 days for my new engine, slave cylinder, tuneup , radiator flush, flush the fuel injectors and clean the throttle body. $1500.00

Question

What engine, 4.2, 4.6, 5.4? I have a 4.6 with 36,000 on it yesterday and today there is a tapping sound when it is started. Like a valve or lifter. Sound goes away when engine is warm. Not sure if it is a belt or what.
