p0300, p1450, and spark knock

i recently put an edge evo on my 99 5.4 expedition and it was a noticeable improvement over my diablosport, but even with 93 octane gas im gettin spark knock at wot right before it shifts. if i run 87 it spark knocks much worse, even under light loads like small hills and stuff, even with the stock tune, but since i tuned it with the edge its been black smoking at wot (small black puff when i first floor it and a big black puff as it shifts gears) im no genius with this kind of stuff but i always thought that spark knock was due to the engine running lean and black smoke was a sign of it running rich. What i dont get is how it can be doing both at the same time? and what to do to stop it?

i have also been getting a p1450 on and off for quite a while now (unable to bleed up fuel tank vaccum) bet maybe a week or two after installing the edge i been getting a p0300 ( random misfire detected) and sometimes the cel will flash, and if im not mistaken that means its misfiring at that very time. but if it is, its not noticeable, no jerking or anything like that. I cant really hear the exhaust to see if i hear a miss going down the road while its flashing bc i have mud grapplers and there extremely loud, but parked if i hold the engine anywere from 2000-4500 rpm you can hear a pop in the exhaust like its missing. the spark plugs are motorcraft and only about 6 months old. The truck does have a little over 200k miles and i believe it has the factory cops but runs fine and cant feel the miss while driving and is still averaging 15.5-16.5 mpg with 35 inch tires. Ive done some searching and seen multiple causes for the p0300 code from cops to catalytic converters, so I was hopeing someone who knows more about this than me might be able to narrow it down a little before i started blindly dumping money into it.

oh and btw, i called the dealership and they said itd be over a hundred dollars just to find out whats causing the p0300 code so i figured i try the forum first.

Return the tune to stock, clear the codes, and wait for them to come back - go from there. You may have a problem with the evap system and your cops may be getting weak. You may also have a lot of combustion chamber deposits. A muffler shop can test the cats and exhaust for excessive backpressure.

It would not hurt at all if you throw a bottle of Techron in the gas tank.

is techron anything like seafoam? someone on here recommended i run some seafoam through it a while back to see if it would help clear up the spark knock, but when i did it didnt seem to do anything but foul out my spark plugs, thats why i changed them last time. and ive been looking around for coils and i kind of been leaning toward the accels, think those will be ok or is it hit and miss.

and do you know of anyway i can test or check the evap system? i removed the spare tire and visually inspected it but i didnt really see anything wrong no holes in the hoses or lines disconectted.

also it got pretty cold out lastnight id say low 50s and when i went to crank it this morning it was turning over slower than normal and took longer to crank up and when it did crank it acted funny for a minute, do you think this is due to the coils.

and thanks a lot by the way

Seafoam is garbage. Techron is a proven fuel system cleaner one of the few that actually work. Accels have been said to have a high failure rate but I wouldn't know never tried them. I would go to e-bay and just buy them off global or uneek. get the set for the V10 engine then you have spares. Dg-508 is the search keyword.

Slow cranking is a battery on its last legs. Go down to the parts store and get the battery and alternator tested.
