97 van 5.4 into 99 expedition
Thanks for your help guys. Hoping to get the engine out, manifold studs removed, and pi heads bolted on today.
Been soaking the studs with penetrant since I got it. Dont know how I missed the broken ones at the time. Hopefully they will come right out, if not I will weld a nut on.
Wont get this far today, but just permatex black for front cover to oil pan?

Didn't get as much done as I hoped.... but the engine is out.

Got it on a stand, all manifold studs successfully removed, and the got the front cover off. Also got all the parts to put it back together.
Is it going to be as hard as it looks to get it back in and lined up with the trans? Looks like its gonna be damn near impossible. Maybe unbolt the trans crossmember and see if I can get it back farther?

It's back in and trans is bolted! Should be running tomorrow. In case anybody is wondering what I had to change because it was a van engine-
Oil filter adapter
Dip stick tube
Engine mounts
Exhaust manifolds
Knock sensor (connector was different, not sure if its because of van or year difference)
Power steering pump (no electrical connector on van pump)
Would have had to screw with a lot more had I used the npi heads and intake

Need some quick help please! The coolant lines for the the throttle body elbow.....the rear port is attached to what???? I can't find it anywhere!!
Front port line goes to the front of the intake manifold. I have the empty port on the rear, don't know where the line is that attaches to it. Thanks.

I plugged the line going to the front of the manifold and figured I would find the other hose by looking for the leak......never got a leak.
Anyways it fired right up. Drove it to the currency exchange to get it titled/plated a few blocks away. Noticed the battery light came on. Went home and checked alternator output. 14.6...., so don't know why the battery light is on? Drove another 20 miles or so, and ses light came on.
Scanned it and got a whole bunch of codes. Cleared them, and hasn't come back on yet in about 20 miles. Battery light did come back on, though.....
So what is up with the battery light and how do the throttle body elbow coolant lines go???!!!!! Thanks! :-)
