you will go through all the trouble of doing that swap but you cant take your driveshaft to a driveline shop and have them shorten it? should only cost under $50

then have a 4r70 built prior to the swap, and forget the 4r100 and ECM

Darkwaterdevil- You are trying to do a very complicated procedure in a tight time window on a vehicle you use for your livelihood. I would suggest that you come up with a plan to have a replacement vehicle available while you do all of the work on your truck, or put off the project until you have more time. You can gather all of the information that is available and be as prepared as possible for the swap, but there are always unforeseen issues that come along with a project like yours. Unfortunately, failure IS an option with these things.

I'd just do a 2v swap if it were me and its my daily. Even then you could pretty much plan on it taking a week.

i didnt get the engine today. i went to the junkyard. should i be worried if the engine is completely empty of oil. when i actualy put it in i will do it on my vaca time. i dont mind changing the tranny if i knew the new lenght for the 2 driveshafts. and idd just get a set from the junkyard to modify. also would have to move the tranny mount and legnthen the torsion bars. they do have a 5.4 2v also the rest are all 4.6s

The tranny adds a whole new level of complication to the deal.I agree with the others recommending you not do the trans swap.. Computer linkage wireing drive shaft.. all issues that will have to be addressed and its not easy..

What's really going on here.. You plan to rebuild it yourself?

I think we need to just step back to some basics real quick.. Swap in a low mileage 2v 5.4 and have your trans rebuilt the way you want it. Dont worry about tuners or upgrades until that is finished... When everything is in and up and running good... if you want more power, look at some E fans, LT headers and a tune.
