praising the 4.6 2v
That's not true at all, that's some pretty big BS.The loudest thing with these engines is the fuel injectors. Running thicker oil may have worked on something ollder, like pre 97 and one that's old and tired.
nope the other tritions i have heard i have not done changes to. and even some guy we took a hot tube to. in park his 5.4 with 70,000 miles made the same noise.
ran 5W20 up to 120,000 miles and got tired of the knocking sound.

Keep it topped off even with supertech oil in the 5 qt container. It won't hurt it. Hell bump up to a 30 weight and you'll probably burn 50% less oil.
My 1997 has an 00 or an 01 4.6 2v in it now, Im loving it. Getting like 20-23 avg MPG going 70-75 and about 19-25 in town depending on traffic, speed n what not(Call it 19 to be safe).
My original 4.6 was getting like 16 in town n 18-19 on Highway, all same speeds. Both engines have same set up.
(3' single out Flowmaster super 40, edge Programmer, and K&N drop-in. Running 31" and 4x4))

ive been told to NEVER run any 10w oils in my triton! 5w-30 or 5w-20

I have run 5w/20 synthetic (royal purple, go ahead, flame away lol) since 80,000 miles, I have 151,000 miles now. Need to replace the oil pan gasket next time, but other than that, runs great. I burn maybe 2qts every 5,000 miles.
hey i run casterol high mileage, but i think when i got it the previous owner put that peak crap in it had a few bottles of that in the back of it, but i guess as long as you maintain it your fine.
