That's not true at all, that's some pretty big BS.

I've never heard of the Modular's making those noises. Maybe the one's your changing the oil in. If you run thicker oil, everything isn't going to get lubed, specially upon cold start. Eventually that will takes it's toll and it won't matter which oil you run, - the damage is already done.

The loudest thing with these engines is the fuel injectors. Running thicker oil may have worked on something ollder, like pre 97 and one that's old and tired.

The original oil spec for a 97 was 5W-30, which you can still use no problem. I would never use 10W anything in a Triton.

nope the other tritions i have heard i have not done changes to. and even some guy we took a hot tube to. in park his 5.4 with 70,000 miles made the same noise.

ran 5W20 up to 120,000 miles and got tired of the knocking sound.

You drive 3k miles per month?!

Keep it topped off even with supertech oil in the 5 qt container. It won't hurt it. Hell bump up to a 30 weight and you'll probably burn 50% less oil.

I have run 5w/20 synthetic (royal purple, go ahead, flame away lol) since 80,000 miles, I have 151,000 miles now. Need to replace the oil pan gasket next time, but other than that, runs great. I burn maybe 2qts every 5,000 miles.
