Mobil 1

I have a 2010 SCREW with a 5.4 and a 2001 Cobra SVT

I run 5W20 MC in both

My previous truck was a 97 F150 4.6l- I used M1 5W30.Sold truck at 198,000 mi.
These engines tended to clog up egr passages. Ever few years I removed the EGR- never found deposits in the EGR or passages. Was the M1 responsible who knows?

Was also troubled by it but read somewhere that it was one of the additives, so from then on I just shook it up before pouring. I usually buy my oil at least 2 cases at a time, so it may sit a while before the last is used. Only noticed it in those cases where it had set for quite some time. Had to good a service from the oil to quite it. I'm sure it wasn't dirt in the oil.
I'll buy it is the additives. Just gives me chills seeing dark deposits in the bottom of a new oil bottle. But I've never heard anything bad about using Castrol GTX oil. Also will throw out that I see the dark deposits in the bottom of Lucas 10W40 semi-synthetic ATV oil bottles too that I use.

I switched to Valvoline for conventional oil use mainly because of price. If you're in the midwest buy valvoline at Orscheln Farm & Home stores. For the last year I've never paid over 2.50 a quart there. On sale occassionaly for 2.00 a quart. Walmart wants 15.00 for 5 quart jug.

Also check out fleetfilter.com for wix filters. I buy a years worth of oil, fuel and air filters for all my boy toys and save $ on the cost of filters. Not worth it though if you're just buying 4 filters at a time. You buy filters at wholesale prices but you have to pay shipping. So you have to buy several filters to overcome the cost of shipping to save.
